The Top Teases that Kicked Off 2018

It’s a new year, so you would think I would learn to be more patient. Patience is a virtue, but it is one I lack when it comes to waiting for tours to be announced. Especially when artists are teasing new announcements. Some are teasing their plans for 2018, while others are quick with the information, some are making us wait practically until next summer! But, hey, lots to look forward to right? That’s how I am looking at it. So in addition to our monthly calendar lets go through the top teases which kicked off the new year!

The biggest reveal of the new year, at least for country fans, was when Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush teased a possible Sugarland reunion at the CMA Awards. Loyal fans have been waiting since 2013 for the duo to reunite. With the release of their new single Still the Same they confirmed there would be new music and live shows in store for 2018. January 9th it was announced who would be accompanying Sugarland on the road. There are just too many up and comers to pick from, so the legends split the tour in two. Between May 25th through July 14th the opening bill includes Brandy Clark & Clare Bowen (yes, Nashville fans, everyone’s favorite Scarlett O’Connor from CMT’s hit series Nashville). The second half of the tour, July 19th through Sept 8th brings out Frankie Ballard & Lindsay Ell. Last year Lindsay Ell released her first full length record The Project and was just winding down from touring with Brad Paisley. Both halves of the tour are stacked with stars, I might just recommend making sure to see both, but now that we know you have time to plan it out.

Pop artist Charlie Puth has been getting some “attention” with his big radio hits, dating back to Marvin Gaye ft Meghan Trainor and One Call Away. Newer releases How Long and Attention give listeners a taste of the smooth and catchy pop vocals off his anticipated album Voicenotes expected May 2018. Most recently has been the Boyz II Men collaboration If You Leave Me Now. We have to wait until May for the full 13 track album, but luckily he announced The Voicenotes Tour with special guest Hailee Steinfeld. Personally since starting this blog I’ve been waiting (as I mentioned before, not so patiently) to be able to put Hailee Steinfeld up on the concert calendar. Being the multi-talented young 21 year old she is she certainly has been busy with many projects- The Pitch Perfect movies, starring in the movie Edge of Seventeen, being featured in the new Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack it’s amazing she has had a minute for her own music. Of course she has managed both for many years now, her own pop single Love Myself, followed by Rock Bottom, then Starving ft Grey and Zedd. Impatient fans could not wait for more of Hailee. After a wait that felt like years Hailee rewarded fans with her empowering single Most Girls, encouraging girls to be who they are and comfortable in your own skin no matter what that is. Hailee has kept up quite a busy pace, but found time to tease each release. Her latest musical project Let Me Go was a three way collaboration between country duo Florida Georgia Line, Alesso, & Watt. I don’t know what was longer: the reveal of the single or the reveal of the official music video. Social Media makes waiting that much more difficult! Now just have to wait until July 16th to catch her at Radio City Music Hall with Charlie.
The rest of my list clearly falls under the teasing category because I really don’t have concrete information for when and where. All I know is that I was too excited when I even got the hint of an announcement and had to share it!
Speaking of artists who are always on the go, Old Dominion fans know the insane tour schedule the group endured last year. The boys were always, and I mean always on the road. The group got a well deserved vacation for the holidays and most of January. Despite how much needed their rest was does not ease my incessant need to know when they will be back on the road before August 2018 or back in the studio. Luckily for me and the entire Old Dominion army I don’t think we have to wait long for the studio part. On their Instagram @olddominionmusic posted a photo of Matthew Ramsey, Shane McAnally, and Thomas Rhett. The caption read “Got some things off our chest today #newsongs” Whether it is for Old Dominion’s album or a song to be cut that is quite the company to have all in one photo!

Maren Morris turned to Twitter at the start of 2018 to reflect on her move to Nashville from Dallas 5 years ago. She mentions the cold and the hope that she had back then. She feels both the cold and the same amount of hope she did for the place that made her dreams come true. A fan replied saying no rush for new music, but letting her know her excited fans are still behind her. Maren’s response was this big tease “Oh there’s some fun stuff in the pipeline coming sooner than you think” Very exciting news, but I know Maren has a wedding to plan this year and I am just as excited to see her wedding come together, just like many others I’ve fallen in love with Maren and Ryan Hurd’s love story. I have a hunch some beautiful love songs are in that pipeline she was referring to (as well as some sweet vows!)

My final tease is a two in one. First, the lead singer of Lady Antebellum well known as Charles Kelley dropped a huge surprise on his Instagram the first week of January. On his Instagram @charleskelley posted a video of him rehearsing his song Leaving Nashville from 2016’s solo project The Driver. Video was captioned “ Doing some rehearsing for a few random solo shows I have coming up. I missed these songs #leavingnashville” This is so exciting; solo shows from CK mean intimate venue performances (personally my favorite kind, the smaller the better). We missed these songs too Charles, so don’t be so secretive with the dates and tour stops!

The rest of Charles’ crew of Lady Antebellum followed suit with the teasing theme of 2018. They shortly after posted a blacked out photo of the trio on @ladyantebellum Instagram page and Facebook page. Captioned “Hmmmmm. Where Should we tour in 2018?” I think this tops the teases we’ve mentioned. Definitely raises the question of when. Dave just had a new baby girl Lillie Renee Haywood and Hillary is expecting twins in February. As Baby Bellum expands the band is balancing family life and a new touring schedule. Just like that picture for now we are left in the dark, just waiting in excitement!
So there you have it, the top teases of 2018. If you didn’t know about some of these spoilers then I am sorry. I am sorry that you are now in this state of curiosity and impatience that I find myself in. But hey, that’s what Rockin Rox Promo is here for, right? So now we can wait impatiently together and celebrate when the shows finally are announced or the new music arrives (let’s be honest, we will be celebrating both times). Until next time, enjoy the music!
